L'Imperatore of Roma?
A remarkable transfer rumour has emerged claiming Adriano could join Roma this summer if they qualify for the Champions League.
“If we qualify directly for the Champions League next season, then we will have around £10m to spend,” commented patron Rosella Sensi.
The Giallorossi have constructed a successful squad on the basis of loans, youth products and one big name signing per summer – which this term was David Pizarro from Inter.
According to the ‘Corriere dello Sport’ newspaper, they will be doing business with the Nerazzurri again next season.
In an outlandish rumour, it’s said that Luciano Spalletti has requested Adriano and that Inter would be willing to release him to their direct rivals for the Scudetto.
It’s even suggested that L’Imperatore was already offered to the Capital club only a few weeks ago and that Roma rejected this extra expense, preferring to plump for Francesco Tavano on loan from Valencia.
These are different players, though, and Adriano would be the big strong centre-forward that Spalletti’s squad lacks to give him more tactical alternatives.
Should the Brazilian have still not found his best form by the summer and Roma have the bonus money from European competition, it’s a story we may see resurface again in six months’ time.
