      Doni agent: Roma want to open new contract talks

      The agent of Brazilian goalkeeper Doni has revealed Roma have contacted him about opening new contract talks.

      Mario Miele said: "Roma has asked me about meeting in order to extend Doni's contract, that currently will expire in 2009. The intention is to extend it until 2012 and that is confirmation of how much the club believes in my, who today we can consider being one of the best keepers that play in Europe.

      "He will shortly assume the No1 place in the Brazilian national team.

      "The talk about (Livorno goalkeeper Marco) Amelia does not affect us. Roma believes blindly in Doni."

    • Doni verkaufen, Curci ins Tor stellenb, Pipolo auf die Bank fertig! ^^ Der Curci braucht zwar ein paar Spiele um Sicherheit zu kriegen, aber das wird dann schon irgendwann! Und er ist nicht schlechter als Doni!

    • Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni is ready to renew his deal with the capital club, according to the Brazilian’s agent.

      The 27-year-old is contracted to the Giallorossi until 2009, but is not in a hurry to start talks with the side’s management.

      “There is time, Doni still has two years on his contract. The club has other priorities at the time being and the player is very calm,” said the agent Mario Miele.

      “He is doing well and manages to remain focused during the entire match. He is feeling strong and appreciated by his teammates and the Coach,” added his representative.

      “Doni is training well and he likes it at Roma, this is where he wants to stay. He suffered a lot before joining this club and now he deserves to enjoy this positive moment. Furthermore, I believe he can still improve a lot,” concluded Miele.

      Also nach der Leistung gestern müssen wir ihn halten. Find ihn wirklich stark. Curci wird dann bald Nummer 1 werden, denke ich mir. Aber bis 2009 hab ich nichts gegen Doni!

    • Ach nu tu nicht so. Er ist auch so fast immer sehr gut! Curci KANN einer werden ja. Aber er brauch noch Zeit. Coppa etc. pp.! Er kommt noch. Ich mag Curci auch mehr, aber Doni ist scho echt i.o. !

      Ich hab nix gegen Ihn, um Tottis Willen! Aber find hatl das Curci merh Potenzial hat für die Zukunft!

    • Stimmt, Doni ist nicht schlecht, aber ab und zu hat er dann so kleine Aussetzer, da denk ich mir echt, ob es nicht besser wäre, einfach Curci das Vertrauen zu schenken. Er wird zwar ein paar Spiele brauchen, aber ihr werdet sehen, aus dem wird bestimmt einmal was. Aber wenn er jetzt bis 2009 nur auf der Bank sitzt, kann ich mir das irgendwie nicht mehr so recht vorstellen. :nein:
      Eine Alternative wäre auch, Curci bis dahin zu verleihen.
      Aber am alleralleralleraller....allerliebsten wäre mir, wenn Marco Amelia zurück kommen würde. Das wär echt der Hammer! :beten:

    • Doni spielt eine Weltklassesaison. Der war schon öfter spielentscheidend.

      Curci ist noch sehr jung, und kann dadurch allein nicht die nötige ruhige haben. Er ist aber nicht umsonst U21 Nationalstammtorhüter. Einsatzzeiten bekommt er sowohl in der Coppa wie auch in der U21 Nationalmannschaft, daher brauch man ihn nicht verleihen.

      Er muss halt an sich arbeiten, wie es jeder andere junge Torhüter vor ihm musste, um den Sprung in die Stammelf zu schicken.

      Doni ist derzeit der bessere, er ist nicht nur auf der Linie stark, er ist auch mit den Füssen sicher und liest das Spiel sehr gut.

      Wusstet ihr, dass Doni damals von ganz allein zur Roma kam?

      Im Sommer 2005 hat er seinem damaligen Verein Juventude 18000 Euro (Dollar?) aus eigener Tasche gezahlt, um freizukommen. Er kam nach Trigoria und präsentierte sich mit einer DVD. Nach Betrachten der selbst zusammengeschnittenen Videoclips untersuchten ihn Spalletti, Conti und Prade' ausgiebig, sein Charakter und das Probetraining mit Torwarttrainer Bonaiuti überzeugten.

      Roma goalkeeper Doni says he doesn't miss life in Brazil.

      "I love my country, but it is not easy to live there," said the Brazilian. "For a few years now there has been the nightmare of kidnappings. I am a calm man and want a relaxed life. I took my whole family with me to Rome, including my parents.

      "I arrived in Italy and for a few months was living in a strange dream-like state. I didn't speak Italian, had no experience of Europe other than a Corinthians friendly trip to Moscow.

      "Not just that, I also discovered that football works in a very different way here. The training sessions are effectively match simulations. In Brazil it's a much lighter workload.

      "The technique is also another issue. In Brazil goalkeepers trap the ball a certain way, whereas at Roma I have to move my hands differently. Also back home the pitch is dry and the grass long, but in Italy it's always wet before the game. This makes the ball skid on the grass and reach the net much quicker."
