Ronaldinho Scores Brace In Comeback Game
Barcelona forward Ronaldinho has made his long-awaited return to football in a charity match in Venezuela.
The Brazilian international has been the subject of heavy speculation linking him with a move away from Camp Nou, with Italian giants AC Milan along with Premiership duo Chelsea and Manchester City courting his signature.
Having been deemed surplus to requirements by the new Barcelona manager, Josep Guardiola, the 28-year old demonstrated the kind of ability that has seen him named FIFA World Player of the Year on two occasions, albeit in a non-competitive match.
Ronaldinho’s club team-mate Lionel Messi captained the opposing side, with both teams containing a host of international players, and the former looked to have overcome the knee injury that has ruled him out since January.
The majestic schemer played 56 minutes of the match, requiring just 11 minutes to score his first goal, netting again in the second half while also supplying two assists as the game finishes 7-7.
All of the parties interested in bringing Ronaldinho to their respective clubs will have been interested spectators, particularly as speculation has been rife in recent months that the player’s injury was worse than expected.
