"Okaka has been guaranteed he will play regularly there."

    • Chivu prays for Inter miracle
      Thursday 12 July, 2007
“Only a miracle” will see Cristian Chivu join Inter this summer, claims the Roma defender’s agent.

Talks between the two sides have collapsed in bitter circumstances over the last few hours and representative Joan Becali explained just how bad things have become.

“The pride of Rosella Sensi and Massimo Moratti is a problem, as at this stage who will make the first call?” he told Sky Italia television.

The Giallorossi were furious that Chivu’s agents rejected personal terms with Real Madrid after a £13m move had already been agreed.

“Roma believe the missed transfer to Real was very damaging? Well then they should lower his price tag!”

Inter have reportedly offered far higher contract terms to the Romanian, but with only £7m spent on signing him from the Olimpico outfit.

“It is not true that we refused to negotiate with Real,” continued Becali. “I met Predrag Mijatovic at the Bernabeu, but their proposal was the same as the one Roma had made to make him stay.”

Sensi has now warned that Chivu could be forced to stay on for another season only to be released next summer as a free agent.

Considering what happened the last time a player refused to renew his contract – Antonio Cassano was frozen out for six months and eventually sold to Real Madrid mid-season – it is a dangerous game.

“I do not fear repercussions for Chivu. He acted as a great professional throughout. On Sunday Cristian must attend the pre-season training camp, but we await a miracle…”

Meanwhile, Roma have loaned teenage striker Stefano Okaka Chuka to Serie B side Modena.

Newly promoted Lecce are close to landing their second signing of the summer as they close in on Roma striker Stefano Chuka Okaka.

The Salentini returned to Serie A after winning a Second Division play-off against Albinoleffe and are now looking to build a side capable of mixing with the elite.

Coach Giuseppe Papadopulo has walked out and been replaced by Mario Beretta and now the club are focusing on giving him the right squad to work with.

Okaka spent last season on loan to Modena and the 18-year-old hitman is likely to be farmed out again by the Lupi this year.

“There hasn’t been any contact with Okaka’s representative, but there is a co-ownership agreement with Roma,” Lecce sporting director Guido Angelozzi revealed.

“The only thing that remains to be done is to wait for the player to return from holiday and to find out whether he is interested in the move or would rather come on loan.”

    • Okaka Closer To Bologna
Roma forward Stefano Okaka is hoping to move to Bologna in order to gain first team football and prove his worth in Serie A according to his agent, Domenico Scopelliti.

Scopelliti confirmed that Okaka is searching for a temporary move away from the Giallorossi in order to play more regularly in the upcoming season.

“Stefano would like to join Bologna and he would appreciate a lot this option,” declared the player’s agent to Laromasiamonoi.it. “The problem is that the two clubs must reach an agreement.

“However, I can say it with absolute certainty that the player would surely prefer the Emiliani’s squad.”

A meeting between the two teams is therefore scheduled to find a solution.

“During the week there will be a meeting in Milan, at the Ata Quark Hotel to define the situation,” continued Scopelliti.

“If Roma and Bologna will reach an agreement, there will not be any problem for the transfer of the player to the Rossoblu.”

However, the deal will most likely be that of a loan transfer, so Roma will be able to have him back if he proves his worth.

It's more and more likely that Okaka WON'T be going to Bologna. It is said, that Okaka has matured during his stay in Modena and during the U19 championship, and now has the experience and the skill to try replace Totti in his striker role.

    • Ähm Okaka ist doch schon fix an Bologna verliehen!

      Okaka Joins Bologna On Loan
Roma youngster Stefano Chuka Okaka has joined newly promoted Bologna on a season-long loan.

Okaka, who was born in Umbria to Nigerian parents, is highly rated in the peninsula, and last week helped Italy Under-19s to second place in the European Championships.

The 18-year-old joined the Roma youth system from Cittadella in 2004, and spent last season on-loan at Serie B side Modena, scoring seven goals.

Having returned back to Roma, Okaka has now been loaned out again, this time to newly promoted Serie A side Bologna.

“I’m happy to be going to Bologna,” Okaka told Tuttomercatoweb.

“I hope that I can do well there. I didn’t expect to stay on at Roma. I’m happy to renew my contract and be sent on loan, and Bologna is the most pleasing destination.”

Bologna have been quite prominent in the summer transfer market so far, capturing the likes of Corinthians hardman Coelho, Lazio’s Gaby Mudingayi, and Sampdoria duo Cristian Zenoni and Sergio Volpi. They have a baptism of fire though on their return to the top-flight, as they travel to AC Milan for their fist game of the season.

“Serie A is like that,” Okaka added.

“Playing Juventus, Inter or Fiorentina would have been the same because the giants are all at the same level.”
