      Fabio Quagliarella could become Juventus’ next transfer target, according to the latest reports in Italy.

      The Sampdoria hitman impressed in Serie A this year by scoring 13 Serie A goals, including several spectacular strikes.

      The versatile attacker ended the season with a sensational brace in Italy’s 2-0 win over Lithuania in their Euro 2008 qualifying match on Wednesday, only his third appearance for the Azzurri.

      Quagliarella, who is co-owned by Sampdoria and Udinese, was bean heavily linked with Inter over the past few months, but the Nerazzurri decided to turn their attention to Cagliari star David Suazo.

      Juventus might now decide to make a move for the 23-year-old, especially if Milan confirm the £17m price tag on Alberto Gilardino’s head.

      The Bianconeri are looking to strengthen their striker department seeing as David Trezeguet is yet to renew his deal with the Old Lady, who might decide to cash in on the French international.

      New Juve Coach Claudio Ranieri has announced he wants at least four strikers and Quagliarella would add to Alessandro Del Piero, Raffaele Palladino and Marcelo Zalayeta, meeting the tactician’s request.

      The Blucerchiato, who is also a reported target for Manchester United, declared that the only thing that matters for him is to be granted continuous playing time.

      “I am on holiday from tomorrow and cannot wait to rest. There is time for the transfer market,” said Quagliarella after the victory against Lithuania.

      “I am on a co-ownership deal and that may be renewed. The important thing now is for me to play consistently.”

      Sampdoria director general Beppe Marotta insists that the Blucerchiati will do all they can to keep striker Fabio Quagliarella.

      The forward’s spectacular brace led Italy to win their Euro 2008 qualifier with Lithuania on Wednesday, crowning an impressive season in which he also scored 13 times in Serie A.

      The 23-year-old, who is currently co-owned by Sampdoria and Udinese, is quickly becoming one of the hottest properties on the transfer market and is reported target for Juventus and Manchester United.

      “We will do all we can to keep him here in Genoa,” said Marotta.

      “We can’t make any evaluations now, but we want to keep him here. That is also becuase of the excellent relationship we have with Udinese,” added the Blucerchiato.

      “We would only consider letting him leave if we were to receive an extraordinary offer, but I don’t think that will happen and therefore Fabio will stay with us.”

      Livorno captain Cristiano Lucarelli has been paired with the Genoa-based outfit as a potential replacement for Quagliagol, but Marotta preferred to play it cool when asked about their own targets.

      “We want to keep a low profile, although it is obvious that we want to build a competitive squad. We are following some players, our objectives our clear,” concluded Marotta.

      Sampdoria officially unveiled their new Coach Walter Mazzarri on Tuesday as the former Reggina tactician signed a two-year deal following Walter Novellino’s departure.

      Sampdoria director general Beppe Marotta has valued Fabio Quagliarella at over £10m, but says the Blucerchiati will do all they can to keep him.

      The forward’s impressive season was crowned by a brace in Wednesday’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania, making him one of the hottest properties on the transfer market.

      “We are evaluating his future, every decision must be taken with Udinese who co-own the player, but we have an excellent relationship with them,” Marotta told Rai Radio Anch’io Sport.

      “The player’s value is set by the market itself,” he explained, having earlier claimed that they were unlikely to receive a bid which they deemed reasonable for the Azzurri newcomer.

      “If I compare Quagliarella to Alberto Gilardino and Francesco Tavano, I can say that he can be considered intermediate between the two of them and can be valued at approximately £10-14m.

      “Obviously we want to keep him and will do all we can, but we must consider the financial needs of both us and Udinese. In any case, we will only consider extraordinary offers, otherwise we will keep him.”

      Marotta confirmed that there are many outfits interested in the player’s services, especially due to his relatively young age.

      “Many outfits are keen on signing Quagliarella, he is 23-years-old and can still improve a lot,” he explained.

      We will do what we can to keep him, but we will need to understand what other clubs are willing to offer,” concluded the Blucerchiato.

      Ich glaub nicht das er aufgebaut werden will. Er will Spielpraxis als Stammspieler. Ich weiss nicht, ob er die bei uns bekommt. Ich glaube nicht das er zu uns wechseln wird.


      Fänd's auch schade wenn so ein Talent zu uns kommt, aber nicht spielt! Klar hätte ich ihn gerne, aber passt nicht ins System :(

    • Roma warned off Quagliarella

      Udinese general director Pietro Leonardi was not happy after Roma admitted their interest in Fabio Quagliarella. “They need to respect our players.”

      The striker, who is co-owned by Sampdoria and the Zebrette, scored 13 Serie A goals for his club this season and netted an impressive brace in the recent Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania.

      Giallorossi Coach Luciano Spalletti confirmed that Quagliarella is an interesting player for Roma, who might allegedly offer to buy Sampdoria’s half of the player’s ownership.

      “Roma have targeted all our players over the past two years, exception made for Morgan De Sanctis, but bought no one in the end,” Leonardi told ‘Radio Radio’.

      Most recently there was a spat between the clubs over talks for Italian international Antonio Di Natale.

      “We think players should be respected and there should be less talking about them, in order to avoid tension and unrealistic expectations.

      “You can say that you like a footballer, it is different when you admit that you are interested in signing him. These things should be considered carefully.”

      Leonardi confirmed that Quagliarella could leave this summer, but Udinese and Sampdoria do not intend to sell him off cheaply.

      “He has reached an important level and is ready to leave, but we want to cash in on his departure and there is no buyer at the time being,” concluded Leonardi.

      The player’s agent Silvio Pagliari declared on Thursday that Manchester United recently made a £10m bid for the Sampdoria man, who was paired with Inter and Juventus as well.

    • No Roma Offer For Quagliarella - Agent

      Fabio Quagliarella's agent talked about rumours linking the player to Roma and fixed the asking price at around 18 million euros.

      The name of striker Fabio Quagliarella is being linked to a number of Italian and foreign clubs, including Roma, with Spalletti publicly having declared his interest.

      However, the player's agent denies that the Giallorossi have ever come up with an offer for his client.

      "I know that Fabio is well liked by Spalletti", Silvio Pagliari explained.

      "But I haven't heard from anyone yet: Roma have not tabled an offer yet and the price for the player is around 18 million euros."

      The co-ownership issue involving Sampdoria and Udinese is another factor, as both clubs will want enough for their share.

      "His situation at present is clear," the agent said. "We shall wait and see what the two clubs decide to do.

      "Things might go on as they have this year, unless there is a third team in the background planning to purchase him."
