Reports in Italy suggest that Roma are monitoring Urby Emanuelson of Ajax as they look to strengthen their defence.
The Giallorossi are already planning their next market moves and have targeted the 20-year-old Dutchman, who is used as a left-back and made his League debut in the 2004-05 season.
Emanuelson, who grew up in Ajax’s famed youth system, is contracted to the club until 2011, but reports suggest that he could be allowed to leave for something around £5m.
The stopper was a member of the Dutch squad that won the Under-21 European Championship in 2006 and also made his debut with the senior Holland team in the August friendly against the Republic of Ireland.
Emanuelson was a reported January target for Newcastle United, but the move failed to be finalised.
Qualification for the Champions League quarter-finals has guaranteed Roma extra revenue and the club intends to invest in new signings.
Francesco Modesto of Reggina and Jeremy Mathieu of Toulouse are also reportedly on their summer wish list.
